Pioneer Cabin Trail Ride

Ride the Great DivideYou choose! Go for the 25-Mile Competitive Trail ride. Or warm up on the 12-Mile Judged Trail Ride. Or take it easy on the 8-Mile Fun Ride. See the fall colors along the Continental Divide. DIRECTIONS: From Townsend: Go north on Hwy 287. As you enter Helena stay in the right lane until you reach Montana Ave. Turn Rt onto HWY 12 W. Stay in right lane. Road curves to the left. Follow signs for HWY 12 W. Go 7 miles west on Highway 12 out of Helena MT. Turn north onto Blue Cloud Rd at the Baxendale Fire Department (Green Building on Rt). Watch for signs. There is a steep section of the road so bring a 4-wheel truck and put it in low gear. From Great Falls: Go south on I-15 to Helena. Take the Cedar St exit 193. Go 1.3 miles. Stay in the right lane. Follow signs to HWY 12 W. Turn Rt on HWY 12. Go west 6.3 miles. Turn north onto Blue Cloud Rd at the Baxendale Fire Department (Green Building on Rt). Watch for signs. There is a steep section of the road so bring a 4-wheel truck and put it in low gear. From Missoula: Go East on I-90 68 miles. Take the Garrison Junction exit #174. Go east on HWY 12 for 37 miles. Turn left onto Blue Cloud Rd at the Baxendale Fire Department (Green Building on Rt). Watch for signs. There is a steep section of the road so bring a 4-wheel truck and put it in low gear. 25-Mile Competitive Trail RideRIDE VET: Lisa Baller, DVM This is a Hooves & Co sanctioned Competitive Trail Ride along the Continental Divide. Horses must pass a vet check. The horse is judged on condition, soundness and trail ability on natural trail obstacles. The rider is judged on presentation (not showmanship!), grooming (no artificial enhancements, polished hooves, etc.), trail equitation (not prettiness of form), trail safety/courtesy, stabling, etc. If you are a member of the Helena Tri-Arabian Club or the Kalispell Hooves & Co.
