Discussion about the Equus Projects’ Dancing with Horses Performance Sponsored by the Myrna Loy Center of Performing Arts on Oct 16th . Six fine Arabian horses owned by TAHC members performed. Arabian horses ridden by three of our members, Julie Muscutt, Bobbi Walker and Molly Murphy plus 3 college students attending the Human and Animal bonding program at Carroll College: Aubrey Pennock, Mackenzie Homan and Heather Thomas. The performance was wonderful and our horses showed the public how wonderful Arabians can be. Amy reported that JoAnna, the choreographer, gave the club $500.00. Our expenses came to a total of $820.00 including stall rental, food and renting the Trail Rider’s building. She requested grant funding from the Arabian Horses Association and will know how much we get sometime in November. In the past they have given money for events that we put on. The experience was inspiring for all and one of the dancers promised to come and ride a limited distance with us. Julie has offered her experienced endurance horse for her to use. With this offer a few other riders have sworn to come and ride there first limited distance at the same ride. Round Up Rendezvous in May was the date talked about.
This brought the subject of the Pioneer Cabin Endurance Ride up. It appears that we have interest in putting this on another year. The date of September 10th was decided upon. With this date we get the extra volunteers from the Carroll College Human and Animal Bonding class. Members that have worked the ride in the past need to send an email with what they are willing to do at this next ride.
Liz Dagnall stepped up to the plate and will run for club president this year and offered to be Assistant Manager at the ride. Susan McAnally agreed to run for treasurer. Julie Muscutt agreed to be Ride Manager unless someone else wants it. We need someone to step up and be Ride Secretary This is a critical role and can’t be the RIDE Manager. Ann and Drin have volunteered to organize the initial work in taking the money and assigning numbers. Drin has volunteered to set up the vetting area and give the New Riders stuff. Liz Dagnall found another 25 mile loop and discussion commenced about making this a true Pioneer Ride: three days with one of them being 55 miles. If you have an opinion please email Julie Muscutt at julimuscutt@gmail.com. Liz feels confident that with this much time to organize it she could find interesting alternatives for variety of trail.
Liz Dagnall is attending the AHA National Championship Horse Show and the AHA National Championship Endurance race Oct 30. Her Stallion TA Glacier is competing in the Reining Championship and Roses April Rain in the Endurance Championship. She offered to be the AHA representative for the Club as she will be competing next year.
Ellen Taylor has volunteered to contact vendors for donations by email and will collect prize information for the ride. Tri-Arabian Christmas party was discussed possibly Friday Dec 3rd. We would like to have as many of the people from out of town attend as can be. Any one have any other suggestions for a date?
